For Wherever Games, 2010
Outbreaker is a location-aware, browser-based social game about spreading your virus around the world. Players can create viruses and plant them in physical locations across the world! Players can also try to cure infections they get. I made a number of concept pieces to capture the feel of the game and some of its key screens - see below!
One of the first playtests spanned several continents! Coming soon to www.outbreaker.co
The posters for the game that captures the tongue-in-cheek feel of the game.
The “infection” screen lets the user know what infections they have gotten from other players.
The main screen allows a quick glance to the main aspects of the game, like the map, the health screen, high scores, health, and the lab.

SmartWords is an iPhone/iPad app to learn words and letters, by the programming company OrangeMico. I created the illustrations and the interface design. From OM’s web site:
SmartWords English is a fun, beautifully illustrated app for kids to learn their first words. Gameplay includes both visual and audio elements as well as interactive touch and shake features. With today’s competitive, global economy, there’s more emphasis for children to get a head start and learn languages for use both at home and abroad. That is why we are working on releasing multilingual features in an upcoming version.

When designing the interface, we wanted to make sure that it would be very easy for a very young child to use it. We considered many ways of navigating between the different fruits and veggies. The most fun is just shaking the iPad like a rattle, but the parent can also use straightforward “Next/Previous” buttons and click directly additional fruits shown on the bottom.
his learning activity is not so simple! The child is learning the names of fruits, what the fruits look like, and what the words look like. To foster familiarity with the letter form, the fruits can be navigated using just letters.

Creative Direction, illustration, web design
This web site and the branding were created for a TV pilot called Scientastic! The main character is an artsy, science-geek after my own heart, who solves everyday problems with both approaches. I wanted the web site to be fun and rich, and express her multiple interests.
